Blogging Journey: Why Do I Blog?

19 March 2017

I've started blogging when I was in junior high. At that time, I was mesmerized by the fact that people can read my writings. That alone was already exciting. And bloggers used blog as diary or journal, including me. I mostly wrote about friendships, family, and love. I wonder if such blog still get any traffic. Anyone?

I went to high school in The City. I was very distracted because it offers completely different lifestyles that made me obsessed! You know, big malls, branded stuffs, expensive coffees, cinemas, etc. Coming as a girl who knew no one, I tried so hard to be accepted. And to be honest, it was hard. At some point, I realized that I had to stop. But on the other hand, being known as The City girl was kinda cool. Such a stupid girl, wasn’t I?

In college, people become more individualist. Maybe it’s because its flexibility. You are welcome to choose your favorite classes. You are even welcome to spend your free time between classes to hang out with friends, to join community, or even to go home. There are nine people in my squad (including me). Each of us has different preferability. And of course, I was different and it made me feel lonely. I couldn’t demand anything because hey, it was college.

Trying to find something that I like to do in my spare time, I started a book blog. I have so many books and I like to read them. My book blog became an obsession. I even got free books in exchange for honest reviews (thanks everyone!!). I got busier online, something that non-blogger won't understand.

In my 2nd year, I got a part-time job. Not necessarily part-time because it felt like a full time. I went to the office around 4 p.m. and headed home around 10 p.m. or later. And I only had ONE day off per week. You must have guessed how it affected my blog and my reading habit. Hopefully my book blogger community won't kick me out. I do have a strong will to comeback soon. Wish me luck?

I'm still working there now. But now I know how to manage my time (better). And I blog again even not about books. With my limited time at home, I blog about movies, tv series, and sometimes music. Why not reading books at the office? I've tried. But people kept bothering me because I looked free. They didn't even ask! Now, I finish my work as soon as possible and head home. The funny thing is, they think I'm an introvert who likes being at home because I have no friends to hang out with. WRONG! Let me clear that up. Working at home is MORE REFRESHING and I can do A LOT OF THINGS in the same time. Dear colleagues, I’m sorry if I have more useful things to do than hearing you gossiping about others.

Well, these days, blog is not merely a diary or journal anymore. People start to gain money from it. When I first heard about it, I was so excited. Apparently, it’s harder than you think. You don’t have to be expert in writing. You must be consistent and patient. Unfortunately, being consistent in posting is hard. I can’t post every day. But I’ll keep trying. I’m putting “monetizing blog” on my to-do-list. I'll keep writing and I'll keep learning.

If I already have two blogs (book blog and reviews blog), why did I create Miss Ratri? Why don't I focus on one blog? To be honest, I don't know. I just feel like I need another blog. A blog where I can vent out about everything inside my head. A blog that can be understood by more people because who knows what kind of friendship it's gonna bring? I'm not sure if this blog will benefit you in any way. But if you've read until this point, please come back. Ask me to check your blog out. I must admit that writing something with more personal details yet valuable for readers is not easy. I'll try though.

Thank you for stopping by and thank you for reading this far. Each comment that you’ll probably write, will absolutely encourage me to write more. Have a great day!!
